A puppy who had a hairband tied tightly around her mouth was found and taken to a shelter that does not euthanize animals.
The hair accessory was deeply embedded in her skin, causing her face to swell up to three times its normal size. Thanks to the swift action of Cincinnati Animal CARE, the hairband was successfully removed and the wound was sewn up.
The shelter staff decided to give the cute puppy the name Tiffany, inspired by their love for the popular pop artist from the 80s. It’s believed that a hairband was used to keep the puppy from barking, which is a common practice with zip ties.
The animal center’s Facebook posts exposed the severity of the abuse inflicted on Tiffany. Fortunately, Tiffany handled her emergency care bravely and was taken care of by a member of the medical team overnight. Tiffany is now recovering well, eating and drinking properly, and is under the care of the kind-hearted individual who rescued her.
Tiffany’s condition has improved significantly as her swelling has reduced, and her facial injuries are now being treated. Cincinnati Animal CARE is actively searching for any leads on Tiffany’s abuser, and PETA is offering a reward to anyone who can provide useful information leading to an arrest. If you have any details about the incident, please get in touch with Hamilton County Dog Wardens on 513-541-7387.
